The “Tenpyofude,” believed to be the oldest surviving brush in Japan, features a thick body with a fine tip, making it ideal for transcribing sutras with consistent strokes over long periods. Due to its short, sparrow-head-like tip, it is also known as the “sparrow-head brush” (雀頭筆). It is said that this long and magnificent brush was used in the ceremony for the eye-opening of the Great Buddha.
Yoshiki has seamlessly blended traditional craftsmanship with modern makeup brushes. This uniquely shaped brush is highly versatile, perfect for both picking up and blending colors. Our previous High Grand Saikoho eyeshadow brush set was based on the Tenpyofude design, but slightly pressed with a ferrule. Now, Yoshiki is launching the original, unaltered version for you to enjoy.
