Dear Fude friends,
The new BoBo × Bisyodo collaboration — Angled Marshmallow Brush is now released.
This brush is crafted with Saibikoho goat hair.
To me, Saibikoho has always felt like a very special world. If I had to describe it, I see it as existing in two different “states”:
One is an extremely high-grade Saibikoho refined by Yoshiki,
and the other is the more commonly available, stable-grade Saibikoho found on the market.
Those who have experienced truly top-tier Saibikoho will understand this feeling — it is a texture that is almost impossible to replicate. To me, it feels almost like a legend.
Market-standard Saibikoho has a very clear character: it is extremely soft, extremely fluffy, naturally opening like cotton.
Because of this, in traditional brush designs, only a small amount of hair is needed to create a full-looking brush head.
This brings clear benefits:
-
Softer color payoff
-
Naturally diffused powder
-
A light, clean finish
But there are also clear limitations:
-
Weak structural support
-
Less precise placement
-
Instability around contour areas
To me, these are not issues of the hair itself, but issues of structure and density.
This brush was not created by changing the hair grade, but by redesigning the structure.
It features a 26–35mm graduated bristle length and a 26mm ferrule width.
The goal was not to make the brush look bigger, but to allow the hair bundle to develop more stable internal tension.
During prototyping, I continuously adjusted hair density and length balance, aiming to build internal support through intentional layering, instead of relying only on fluffiness for volume.
The angled, flat-top shape was not designed for visual impact, but to follow the natural facial contour lines.
Since people cannot control brush angles perfectly at all times, I wanted the brush to follow the bone structure, rather than forcing the user to adapt to the brush.
In the end, this brush had only one design goal:
Not to make it softer,
but to transform it from “very soft”
into “soft, but controllable.”
hair length:26-35MM
ferrule wide:26MM
